The railway that connected Edessa with Thessaloniki and Monastir in 1892 was not just a transportation line – it became a vital link in the struggle for the liberation of Macedonia!

Secret transports: Weapons and ammunition traveled hidden in boxes marked "hardware" or inside cotton balls, carrying hope and resistance to the Macedonian fighters.
Greek Patriots Network: Brokers and railway employees played a key role in the transport of equipment and people, deceiving Turkish authorities with false sender and recipient information.
Strategic importance: The railway facilitated the secret movement of guerrilla groups and the gathering of intelligence, while it was also used to transport the wounded.
Historic moment: On October 18, 1912, through the same network, the Greek army arrived in Edessa, bringing the long-awaited freedom!
