EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

The design, implementation and realization of the museum’s pedagogical educational programs is a priority for the “Yessios Museum – The Makedonikos Agonas and Edessa”.

The Museum aims to cultivate the intellectual awareness of students for the local history and culture, with the help of the educational programs it offers under its roof, using the contents and exhibits of the Museum’s collection. The Museum’s halls turn into a multi-sensory environment with an interactive educational framework that uses and highlights the value of New Technologies.

The educational programs address Kindergarten, Primary, Middle and High School students. They are developed according to carefully analyzed curricula so they can meet the needs of the students depending on the age group that attends. They are designed based on innovative teaching approaches and evaluation methods.

≫ PRIMARY EDUCATION

"The Life of the Invisible Fighters"

This is a program aimed at students ages 4-9.

Where did the invisible fighters live?
What did they wear?
What were their medals like?

The program “The Life of the Invisible Fighters” provides answers to these and other questions that focus on specific sections concerning the daily life of the Edesseans at that time, but also on the daily life of the fighters. After being guided through the exhibition, the students take part in various hands-on activities in the museum’s spaces and stations, create their own threefold brochure and participate in a dramatization which includes being photographed as “invisible fighters!”.

The program’s design is based on various methods, techniques, approaches and environments, with particular emphasis on the principles of team-based, experiential and game-centered approaches.

They do so in a multi-sensory environment and in an interactive, game-centered, educational framework (digital educational escape rooms), in an experiential way and with the use of NT and web2 tools. They learn about all the basic characteristics of the Makedonikos Agonas in the Edessa region and about the invisible fighters!

The design of the educational program, with interactive, playful, collaborative actions, attempts to cultivate the cultural skills and knowledge of the students, emphasizing the contents and exhibits of the museum’s collection, local history and culture!

≫ SECONDARY EDUCATION

"I Discover the Makedonikos Agonas"
